...or Hakim & Mouss: as the title of their album says, the choice is up to you. Indeed the two singers look so alike and are both so extremely capable that it doesn't really matter whether the former is mentioned before the latter or vice versa. Best know for their barnstorming presence in French group Zebda and now striking out on their own (albeit each accompanied by the other) whilst the group is in hiatus, the boys have been happily forging a reputation as the new Ray and Dave Davies, Tim and Neil Finn, Liam and Noel Gallagher... only bald and French. Zebda was a energetic, vibrant, messy, crowd-pleasing, party-starting, punk-funking hoedown, and Mouss & Hakim intend to carry on the tradition with a similar mix of irresistible melodies carrying politicised messages (both they and the group are proud humanists and 'philosophical citizens'). Using their music to express their conscience, expounding the benefits of a fairer, more tolerant society, be it in their neighbourhood or around the globe, they aim to make us forget the depressing, negative side of life so we can strive for something better. Whether Mouss inspired Hakim or Hakim inspired Mouss is another question.
